1. Experimental purpose:
Electrodialysis is a membrane separation technology that has been developed recently. It is widely used in various water treatment industries. It can be used for the desalination of brackish water and the treatment of industrial production water, and can also be used for the recycling of waste liquid in metallurgy, chemical industry
, food, medicine and other industries. During the operation of electrodialysis, due to the different mobility of ions in the solution and in the exchange membrane, polarization occurs at high current density, causing the pH in the solution to change, scale to form on the exchange membrane, resulting in a decrease in water production capacity and additional energy loss. Therefore, before the operation of electrodialysis, its limiting current density must be determined. There are many methods to ensure the limiting current density of electrodialysis, and the commonly used method is the voltage-current method. This experiment adopts this method.
Through the experiment, we hope to achieve the following goals:
1. Familiar with the structure, function, installation method and operation method of each part of the electrodialyzer;
2. Master the determination and calculation method of the limiting current of the electrodialyzer;
3. Deepen the understanding of the relationship between current density, liquid flow rate and salt content in the solution during electrodialysis operation.
