2. Experimental principle:
The front of this device is coagulation and sand filtration.
The presence of a large number of colloidal particles (also known as SS) in natural water and sewage is an important reason for the turbidity of water. Colloidal particles cannot be removed by natural precipitation
. The colloidal particles in water are m*nly negatively charged clay particles. The electrostatic repulsion between colloid particles, the Brownian motion between colloid particles and the hydration of the surface of colloid particles make the colloid particles have dispersion stability. Among the three, the electrostatic repulsion has the greatest influence. Adding coagulants to water can provide a large number of positive ions, compress the diffusion of micelles, reduce the ζ potential and reduce the electrostatic repulsion. At this time, the Brownian motion changes from a stable factor to an unstable factor. It is also conducive to the adsorption and condensation of colloid particles. In short, the process of adding coagulants until a large alum flower is formed is called coagulation.
The lime sand filter layer in the sand filter column has a particle size of 0.3 to 2 mm, which can intercept alum flowers and impurities in the water whose particle size is much smaller than the pores of the filter material. When the filtration head loss reaches the maximum allowable head loss, the filter column needs to be backwashed. There is no fixed time for the backwash cycle, which depends on the turbidity of the water.
