1. Experimental purpose:
Ozone is a strong oxidant. Its oxidizing ability is second only to fluorine among natural elements. Ozone can be used for deodorization, sterilization, decolorization, iron removal, cyanide removal, organic matter removal, etc. in water treatment . This device is a demonstration experiment using ozone for decolorization. Through this experiment, we hope to achieve the following purposes:
1. By adjusting different concentrations of ozone to determine its reaction time and effect.
2. Understand the decolorization of ozone through direct observation of organic glass.
2. Working principle of the experimental device:
Ozone has significant effects on decolorization, sterilization, and deodorization. For example, when phenol reacts with ozone, it is first oxidized into catechol, and then catechol continues to be oxidized into o-quinone. If there is enough ozone during the treatment, the oxidation reaction continues. Only a small amount of phenol can be completely oxidized to carbon dioxide and water during the reaction. This experimental device only conducts ozone decolorization experiments. As an oxidant, ozone is gradually absorbed and decomposed through three oxidation columns. Placing polypropylene packing balls in the reaction column can increase the contact area of ​​ozone and achieve better decolorization effect.
